Oferta de tesis doctoral

En el marco del nuevo proyecto PyrTick, se ofrece un contrato para un investigador N3 (nivel Grado en Veterinaria o Máster en CC afines) para hacer la tesis y apoyar en la gestión del proyecto. Requisitos: carné de conducir y disponibilidad para viajar. Se valorará experiencia en estudios con garrapatas, incluyendo en su identificación, así como en captura de micromamíferos.

January, 2024- New research grant

We have been awarded an 890,000€ Interreg-Poctefa research grant entitled "Ticks and diseases transmitted in the Pyrenean environment: updating knowledge, harmonizing their study and prevention proposals", of which I am IP. Other institutions involved are Neiker (Basque Country), INRAe (Toulouse) and LaboPL (Pau).

December, 2023- Attended SECEM conference

One more year, I attended the Spanish Society of Mammologists conference. I presented a poster about the fox we radio-tagged in periurban Zaragoza.

September, 2023- Graduated student

Manuela successfully defended her final project to obtain her degree in Veterinary Medicine with a project entitled "Tick distribution in Aragón". For this work, she identified the ticks collected during our citizen science project "Bites of knowledge".

July, 2023- Attended WDA Conference at Georgia, USA

I attended the 71st International Wildlife Disease Association Conference that was held at Athens, Georgia, USA, where I presented some of my work, met old and new friends and colleagues, and learned from them.

This was a fantastic conference beautifully organized.

June, 2023- Elected WDA Council member

I have been recently elected as Member-at-Large of the Council of the Wildlife Disease Association. 

Is a big honor to be a member the council of my favorite association.

About me

I am a wildlife veterinarian broadly interested in the epidemiology of parasitic and infectious diseases in micro and mesomammals (carnivores, rodents, bats). For the past few years, I focus on vector-borne pathogens. I am also interested in animal conservation, diseases shared by wild and domestic animals, wild and peridomestic disease reservoirs, and zoonoses.

I am affiliated to the Instituto Agroalimentario de Aragón-IA2, based at the Veterinary Faculty of Zaragoza University. I am funded by the Aragonese Agency for R+D (ARAID). I am also a member of the research group "Zoonoses and emerging diseases of public health interest" (Official group #A16_20R of the Aragón Government).

I am a Cuncil Member of the Wildlife Disease Association and a Board Member of the Journal of Wildlife Diseases.
